Medvescak hosts Klagenfurt with Zanoski
KHL Medvescak Zagreb hosts EC-KAC and Tomislav Zanoski on Friday. The Croatians won the last four home games. Dustin Jeffrey is expected back in Zagreb on Friday. HC Orli Znojmo visits Graz. The Czechs could not win in Graz so far. And Leader UPC Vienna Capitals welcomes Innsbruck.
Zanoski is back in Zagreb
KHL Medvescak Zagreb could also win the fourth game against Znojmo, this time after shoot-out! „It was a hard fight and two good points for us“, knows forward David Brine. Now the Croatians host Klagenfurt on Friday. The Bears won their last four home games and would like to continue their winning streak against EC-KAC. “Klagenfurt is a big rival, we expect a hard-fought match”, said Brine. And Headcoach Marty Raymond knows: “The players are motivated. We want two points and get closer to our aim to fix the Play-offs!” Dario Kostovic and Goalie Robert Kristan are back. NHL-Star Dustin Jeffrey is expected in Zagreb on Friday. Mike Ouzas will start in the net. Alan Letang (injured) is still out for a week.
On 16th November 2012, Tom Zanoski was with two goals and one Assist the match-winner for Medvescak Zagreb in the 4:1-win against EC-KAC. Four days later the Forward won with the Croatians again in Klagenfurt. Then in December the Croatian switched from Zagreb to Klagenfurt, scoring three goals in seven games for the Red Jackets so far. On Tuesday he was the match-winner against HDD Telemach Olimpija Ljubljana, scoring two goals in the 2:1-home-win. “It was an important win for us. We fight for the Top 6. It was great to contribute two goals to that win. For us each game is already like a Play-off-game!” Now the Croatian returns for the first time with EC-KAC to Dom Sportova. For the Bears Zanoski made 86 games in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, scoring 29 goals and 23 Assists. “It will be a very special game. The fans were always great and loyal. It’s nice to see them again. I hope the fans welcome me back, as well as they did at other players.” Zanoski will play in one line with Sam Gagner and Kevin Doell, who makes his comeback. Also Tyler Myers is back in Klagenfurt’s line-up. ”It is a very important game for us. Our number one focus is to get a win there”, said Tom Zanoski, who feels a little bit nervous, before his return to his birthplace Zagreb.
Znojmo looks for the first ever win in Graz
Moser Medical Graz99ers lost also the fourth game this season against EHC Liwest Black Wings Linz. For the 99ers it was already the third loss in a row. Now Cole Jarrett and Company host HC Orli Znojmo on Friday. Against the Czechs, Mario Richer’s team won all three games 2012/13 and all home games so far. Forward Olivier Latendresse knows: „Znojmo is a technically strong team. We have to be better than against Linz, otherwise it will be difficult to achieve a win against them and to stay in the top 6.”
HC Orli Znojmo started the year 2013 with a 1:2-loss after shootout against Zagreb. For the Red Eagles it was already the fourth defeat against the Bears this season. Furthermore the Czechs have lost all for shoot-outs, what could cost the Czechs maybe a better place in the end: „The defeats after shootout hurt of course. But in a shoot-out you always need some luck. Players are also a little bit nervous, because the ranking is so tight and the pressure on the players is big. In the shootout we had no luck so far, that's hockey. If we would have won our shootouts always, we would have four points more and would be third or fourth“, knows Headcoach Martin Stloukal, who is now sixth with HC Orli Znojmo.
To defend their top 6 place the Czechs must take points from Graz tomorrow! Znojmo is without a win in Graz and lost all three games against the 99ers this season. ”Graz99ers have a good team, they play the same system as we do. Many of their players are in the age of 30 and have more routine than we. We will change our system a little bit and hope to have success that way“, said the Czech, whose team is without Lubomir Stach (injured) and Petr Beranek (Under-20-WM). Jakub Stehlik, Kim Strömberg and Jiri Beroun are doubtful.
Innsbruck visits Leader Vienna
It’s no question about, who is the favorite, when Leader Vienna Capitals hosts Bottom-team HC TWK Innsbruck on Friday. The Capitals also won their last four home games. “Innsbruck was playing better in the last games. Also for us it wasn’t that easy against them last game than we expected. And it won’t be easy tomorrow too. We must take care of the counter-attacks”, knows Capitals-Forward Philipp Pinter, who wants to get the 25th win this season! “The Capitals are the favorite. But we have shown relatively good performance in recent games and got some confidence. The game starts with 0:0. With a little bit of luck we can also take points from Vienna. We have to play good defense and take advantage of our chances”, knows HCI-Forward Alex Höller.
