Olimpija pick up Brock McBride
HDD TILIA Olimpija Ljubljana have secured the services of 25 Years Old Forward Brock McBride. The Canadian arrives from EIHL-side Belfast Giants.
Brock McBride has joined HDD TILIA Olimpija Ljubljana. Paperwork has yet to be finalized, but the Player has officially been announced by the club. He got used to European hockey this season in the EIHL with the Belfast Giants, scoring 23 points in 15 games. Defenseman Jamie Fraser knows the Player from their time spent together with the Houston Aeros of the AHL and the Elmira Jackals in the ECHL only in 2010/11 as do future opposition players Pascal Morency, Michael Ouzas, Josh Tordjman and Robbie Earl, who were all on the Aeros’ (affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, current leader of the NHL) roster as well. Headcoach Hannu Järvenpää knows the player: “he works very hard and is an allround quality player. He knows how to play at either end of the ice. We’re really happy to have him here, especially since Jamie knows him and stated he would fit fine into our dressing room.” Should McBride, who hails from Cornwall, Ontario be cleared in time, he might well play on Tuesday night against Graz. The alternative would be the Derby against Jesenice on the 26th since Olimpja have a bye-day on Friday.
