New Goalie and D-Man in Szekesfehervar

SAPA Fehervar AV19 have agreed terms with Goalie Adam Munro, a former Firts round Pick in the NHL, and Italian Internationl Defender Cristiano Borgatello.

SAPA Fehervar AV19 have signed a proven Netminder and a Defenseman with international merits. Adam Munro and Cristiano Borgatello both arrive form Italian Serie A.

NHL experience
In 2001, it was Adam Munro’s career year: The Chicago Blackhawks shelled out their first-round-pick to secure the services of the St.George, Ontario born netminder and in the same season, he won the OHL with the Erie Otters. Munro went on to feature in 17 games in the games‘ best league and also spent time with the AHL-teams Norfolk Admirals, Syracuse Crunch and Tronto Marlies. Munro had two spells in Europe with Gotteron/SUI and Novosibirsk/KHL before moving south to sunny Serie A and joining SG Cortina. He played 31 games and average a Save percentage of 91.1%.

Italian International’s last chance in top-league
Somewhat less of a journeyman is Team Italy’s Assistant Captain Cristiano Borgatello. He spent the last four seasons with HC Bolzano, winning consecutive titles in 2008 and 2009, never falling below 20 points per season in the process. Before that, the quick Defender, who may lack a bit on the physical side of things, considering his build (5‘9“/174 pounds) was a regular with HC Merano, his home town. A season abroad with Dundee Stars of the IEHL was his only spell away from Bella Italia in 2004/05. Borgatello was thrilled at the opportunity to join the Hungarian Champions: „Headcoach Kevin Primeau wanted me to join and after some contemplation, I agreed, mostly because it‘s likely my last chance to crack it in a top-league.“, said Cristiano Borgatello, who signed a one-year-contract with SAPA Fehervar AV19.
